# Schokland

Former island, inhabited by fishermen until around 1850, evacuated due to an increasing threat of floods, reclaimed as part of the Noordoostpolder in 1940. Now The Netherlands' first UNESCO world heritage for its unique history. You'll find a museum, a few remaining structures from the inhabited island era, and many interpretative signs and reconstructions.
