People
The Indigenes in the Andes are quite timid. Coastal residents are less pleasant to deal with.

Safety
Traffic
Buses, in particular, drive dangerously. For the rest, people drive fast but still quite careful with regard to cyclists. Wearing a helmet is certainly recommended on the PanAm highway.

Transport
Bus
Taking a bicycle on the bus is no problem at all. Buses run frequently and everywhere. There is a good chance that your bike will end up on top of the roof (roof rack) and a scratch cannot be ruled out completely, but every effort is made to make it go well. Costs around $ 2.
