(Formal) camping

In the villages you will always find something for you, ask for the "Chef de village" if necessary.

Ho(s)tels

In many places there are hotels, which vary in quality.

Wild camping

Wild camping is possible, not dangerous either, but you will get a lot of attention in the vicinity of the villages. Make sure you have a well-ventilated tent as the ground is heated by the sun during the day and can make your tent uncomfortably hot at night.

Safety

Burkina Faso is a poor but relatively safe country.

Criminality

Like almost everywhere, it is important to look after your belongings in the cities. Especially in the capital Ougadougou and especially when the biennial film festival 'Fespaco' is organized (end of February and beginning of March of the odd years). In addition to many tourists, this also attracts a lot of scum to the city.
