Ho(s)tels

Only the big cities have hostels, for average prices (min €10).

Wild camping

Wild camping is legal. There seem to be bears and wolves in the nature, but apparently it has been more than a 100 years since they attacked a person.

Safety

Slovakia is a safe country to cycle at.

Traffic

The small roads are wonderfully quiet and great for cycling. Also the major roads are not too busy.

Nature and animals

Bears and wolves do live in the woods of Slovakia.

Food and drink

Dumplings are a local speciality, as in more neighbouring countries.

**

Supermarkets**

Supermarkets can be found in the larger towns. The shops are not always sufficiently stocked outside the larger towns. Coop supermarkets can be found in almost all smaller villages. All basic products are present here.

Restaurants

The food in restaurants is cheap, but the choice is often limited.

Drinkable water

Tap water seems to be reliable.

Best time to cycle

In the mountains it can rain a lot in summer, however, it's probably the best time to cycle in Slovakia.

Spare parts

In the cities of Bratislava and Kosice there are bicycle shops where the latest parts are sold. In smaller places, the offer is less.
